5 Simple Ways to Clean the Shower

Cleaning the shower is very easy.
Cleaning the bathroom is not everyone’s favorite, but if you have no choice (like me), we have to muster enough guts and courage to scrub the tiles and leave the most-used part of the home clean and germ free. If you hate using chemicals and commercial cleaners, the secret to a shiny bath is inside your kitchen cupboard. Let’s start with the shower.

1. Fiber Glass and Shower Tubs. Heat white vinegar until it’s hot, but not too hot to pour into a spray bottle and work with. Spray it on the shower and scrub heavily. Wait 10-15 minutes and then moisten a scrubbing type sponge with more of the vinegar and scrub down the shower, using additional heated vinegar as necessary.

2. Stubborn Spot Removers for Showers. For stubborn shower spots and scum buildup, use dry soapfilled steel wool pad on a dry shower. Do not use water since it will scratch the wool pad. Spray with hot vinegar, with the process mentioned in tip number one above.

3. Keeping Plastic Shower Clean. Make your plaster shower cleanup easy and simple with a coat of car wax. But don’t use this on the floor or the tub. After showering, use a squeegee to wipe down the shower door and walls and your shower will stay clean and you’ll have fewer problems with mildew.

4. Cleaning Soap Scum and Mildew Off Plastic Shower Curtains. Put the shower curtain in the washing machine with a cup of white vinegar, ¼ to a half cup of laundry detergent, and several old, light-colored towels. Fill the shower with warm water and run through complete wash and rinse cycle cycle. Remove from washer and hand on the shower rod immediately.

5. Cleaning Mineral Deposits from Shower Head. Fill a plastic sandwich bag with undiluted white vinegar. Tie this around the shower head and leave overnight. In the morning remove the bag, scrub the head with a brush and it’s ready to use.

6. Cleaning Mineral Deposits from Shower Head. Fill a plastic sandwich bag with undiluted white vinegar. Tie this around the shower head and leave overnight. In the morning, remove the bag, scrub the head with a brush and it’s read to use.

7. Cleaning Shower Door Tracks. Plug the drain holes in the door track with a little bit of paper towel made into a ball. Pour in undiluted white vinegar. Let this soak for 30 minutes, unplug the holes and rinse the track with a spray bottle of water and run a rag down it. This will flush the accumulated buildup of the rack.
