Simple Living Tip: Don’t Allow Anything to Get Inside your House

Stop the clutter. Stop buying

My Simple Childhood

Grandpa wound take us to long rides

When I was like 9 or 10, grandfather, fresh from his retirement, bought an owner-type jeep and would take grandma and me on long road trips.

I'd play with friends under the rain
Those were years of carefree days, laid-back weekends, and summers spent outside with friends and playmates. Rainy days were also exciting because I’d take a fresh shower outdoors while playing on the puddles and chasing friends under the down pour. Life was pretty simple. I really didn’t care if I had a penny or two… or none at all.

Hot summer days were refreshed by a glass of cold ice tea and sandwich
Grandma used to prepare me a sandwich and a cold glass of orange juice… or iced tea. Food was always home-cooked. Grand father went to the market every day to buy fresh produce.

Grandma would cook nice meals
Grandma, ever the frugal lady, would make see to it that none is wasted. What used to be a food for one meal, she would fit in to last the whole day. I always wondered how she managed to flex a budget and make ends meet. Well, that’s her secret I’m trying to unveil.

I wanted to recreate the simple life that I enjoyed and loved when I was a child. In every way possible, I want to taste my own version of sweet, simple life.

A Simple Life by Elke Nigro

Sitting on the rocking chair and watching life moves through its slow pace....
this is the beauty  of living a simple life
Life can be good in your neighborhood.
Turn off the news of unrest and political
strife,
there is much to enjoy in the simple life.

The big wheels will always be turning,
cities will always be burning,
Fierce competition like a contagion
rides the big tides, cold-eyed, world-wide,
we need places to hide,

Like our family/neighborhood,
where life can be simple, life can be good,
spreading laughter and smiles and a
helping hand,
in a simple life that we can understand.

My Quest for Simple Living Begins

My quest for simple life begins

Simple living has always been ringing my mind. I have been in love with so many blogs that promote simple living that I want to give myself a try.

Now, how do I define simple living?

I find it a lifestyle of frugal but wise consumption. A lifestyle of sufficing just enough needs and shunning too many wants. It’s a lifestyle of decluttering not only the space but also our own personal beings. It’s putting restraint to our wants and living off what we have.
Simple living is a matter of making the right budget

I have found out that so many people have experimented living on trailers with barely just enough. I have read about moms sticking to their budget  and utilizing their creativity to make ends meet. I have read about coupon-crazy families who really thought it over before they went shopping. I learned about people who’d go to garage and rummage sales and find great treasures for a penny or two. I loved reading about grannies who cooked homemade pies and made preserves. These and more, they’re the inspirations of why I put up this blog.

Everyday day or two, I’ll try to shoot something in here to share about my thoughts and desires to live a simple life. I want to be one of those people who learned to live the most of their lives with less.
